Lifeline WA would like to say thank you to the West Australian community for supporting the 12 Days of Christmas Auction.
Successful bidders have been notified by email and have been sent an invoice for payment. A list of the winning bidders’ usernames and amounts will be posted on the Lifeline WA and 720 ABC Perth websites. Click here to view.
The auction raised over $16,000 for Lifeline WA and all funds generated will go towards raising awareness about suicide prevention in the community and educating more Telephone Crisis Supporters to operate the 24/7 crisis line, 13 11 14.
These funds will allow Lifeline WA to take on a further 5 Telephone Crisis Support Volunteers to operate the 13 11 14 crisis line.
It costs Lifeline WA $3000 to accredit each Crisis Supporter in the Certificate IV qualifications required in Telephone Crisis Counselling.
Each of these Crisis Supporters, once educated, will go on to answer approximately 150 calls per year, of which around 15 will be from people at imminent risk of suicide. Therefore the funds raised in Lifeline WA’s12 Days of Christmas Auction can be roughly translated to a further 75 lives saved from suicide in the next year. Should the Crisis Supporters continue their position for the standard 3 years, the funds raised in this auction could potentially save 225 lives from suicide in total.
Our commitment to you is that we will make every dollar you invest in Lifeline WA count.
This auction could not have happened without the generous support of 720 ABC Perth and The West Australian. They truly have brought the meaning of Christmas to Lifeline WA.
